AKOYA

Akoya is a 9-story residential apartment building with a ground-floor retail space and 4 basement car park levels. Situated on an important artery connecting Sydney’s northern suburbs to the CBD, it sits on a site that marks the transition point from low-density residential housing to high-density developments.

The design is made up of two languages: the primary language is a response to the urban context along Pacific Highway, taking cues from the strata inherent in sandstone; the secondary language speaks to the residential nature of the area, with framed views created by verandah posts and simple balustrade designs.

Reflective glass on the recessed part of the building along with perforated sun screens and planting provide a form that changes night and day with the seasons of the year.
